“The building was designed by design as an industrial facility for use as a printing plant. Abandoned after the transformation in Poland, it deteriorated for many years. Fortunately, an investor was found – Pro Design, a company with a fantastic idea to adapt it. The design work was a great pleasure, as the building had an incredible industrial character. It was interesting enough in itself that it didn’t need “beautification” only emphasizing its character and architectural details. When we undertook this project, we knew in advance that it was necessary to take advantage of the qualities it had in itself. After reconstruction, it has two staircases, one historic and the other modern made in architectural concrete. We left the old windows around the new staircase. They give the impression of lightness and add spaciousness to the staircase and the rooms adjacent to it. All installations were designed so that their course was under the ceilings, which allowed us to emphasize the industrial character of the building. The floors were made in industrial concrete, and the exposed bricks were painted in broken white. The door woodwork is modest, in white, but in a high-gloss finish is a contrast to the roughness of the brick and the raw concrete of the floor. Such a clash between modernity and the old fabric results in an interesting interior experience. The minimalism used in the interiors of the building makes the building today a backdrop for a great many activities in various fields related to innovation and design organized in its interiors.” – says Mariusz Szmytkowski – owner of VOLTA DESIGN
