The sound is an elusive phenomenon and it cannot be easily investigated. Everyday with our sense of hearing we perceive lots of more or less pleasant sounds of varying intensity from our environment. How to prevent loud sounds from spoiling our joy of living in the house or the apartment of our dreams? We all know the nuisance of the noise and the salutary effect of the silence.
One of the reasons of such a nuisance is the insufficient
sound insulation of doors. Sound insulation is the ability to
reduce transition of the sound. Sound insulated door is also useful
when you do not want to be heard. Sound insulation performance (Rw)
is measured in decibels (dB). Rw determines the degree to which the
noise coming from a source located outside of the door is
damped down. The higher Rw, the better sound insulation. Interior
doors usually do not exceed Rw = 30 dB.
A door of the INTERDOOR brand equipped with a flush and
rebated door leaf and a mechanical falling threshold (ie
a seal in the bottom that lowers itself when the door is
closed) has the best Rw in its class - 37 dB!
Our doors have been tested for acoustic performance in the
laboratory of Instytut Techniki Budowlanej (Institute for the
Building Technology) in Warsaw. We have been able to increase the
Rw to 37 dB thanks to falling thresholds. They have other
advantages too - they increase the heat insulation and prevent the
transition of the light and the dust. They also adapt to uneven
floors and make the door open and close more quietly.
Models that can be offered as 37dB doors (provided they are
equipped with a mechanical falling threshold) include: ALBA,
BARI, PŁASKIE PLATINIUM, PŁASKIE, ROMA, TORINO, VENEZIA and
VOLANO. We also offer glazed doors with the same acoustic
performance.
